A Linux desktop for working with AI agents.
The claude, codex, opencode, openclaw and goose agents, Docker, Docker Sandboxes, QEMU with KVM and GPU runtimes, installed on first boot. The whole OS is a bootc image, so updates are atomic and rollback is one command.
sudo bootc switch docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:kdeSwitches an existing bootc system to the KDE Plasma variant, built from Fedora 44. The image is staged, and you boot into it on the next reboot. To install from scratch, use the ISO below.
Get started
Download the ISO for your desktop and architecture (for example agenticlinux-kde-x86_64.iso), boot it and install as usual. It is a network installer, so the install needs a network connection. Latest release
On an existing bootc system, switch to a variant's image:
sudo bootc switch docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:kdeFetch the newest image and reboot into it:
sudo bootc upgrade --applyBoot the previous image on the next reboot:
sudo bootc rollbackWhat is in it
Five agents, ready on first boot
claude, codex, opencode, openclaw and goose are installed, with herdr to run them side by side and CodexBar to watch their usage limits. The ChatGPT (with Codex), OpenCode and Goose desktop apps are installed too. Sign in once per agent; on a local model through llmman no account is needed.
codex loginDocker, and Docker Sandboxes to isolate agents
Docker Engine runs as a rootful system daemon or as a rootless daemon per user, with separate images and containers. Docker Sandboxes runs agents in isolation, and QEMU with KVM covers full virtual machines.
dockerd-rootless-setuptool.sh installLocal models with llmman
llmman is preinstalled. It runs a model on your own machine, or connects any of the agents to a hosted provider.
llmman launch claude --model qwen3.8Atomic updates, and a rollback that happens by itself
The whole OS is one image, rebuilt every 4 hours and on every push to main. /etc and /var, so your home directory, carry over between images. With bootguard, a new image gets three boot attempts; if it does not come up healthy, the machine returns to the previous image and does not retry the bad one.
bootc statusGPU runtimes included
Vulkan with the Mesa drivers, ROCm on x86_64, and the NVIDIA driver with CUDA libraries and nvidia-container-toolkit registered with Docker. The NVIDIA kernel module is unsigned, so disable Secure Boot or enroll your own MOK.
vulkaninfoVariants
10 variants, for x86_64 and aarch64. The variant name is the image tag and part of the ISO name. The tag follows the newest build.

|---|---|---|---|
| kde | Fedora 44 | KDE Plasma | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:kde |

| sway | Fedora 44 | Sway | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:sway |
| cosmic | Fedora 44 | COSMIC | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:cosmic |
| xfce | Fedora 44 | Xfce | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:xfce |
| budgie | Fedora 44 | Budgie | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:budgie |
| base | Fedora 44 | none | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:base |

| centos-gnome | CentOS Stream 10 | GNOME | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:centos-gnome |
| centos-base | CentOS Stream 10 | none | docker.io/ericcurtin044/agenticlinux:centos-base |
The variants carry the same packages on both distributions, so the CentOS Stream 10 variants are limited to what CentOS Stream 10, EPEL 10 and RPM Fusion have: GNOME and KDE Plasma are the desktops that exist there.
From the blog
- Why /tmp is not a tmpfs
On AgenticLinux, /tmp is /var/tmp bind-mounted over it. A tmpfs is limited by RAM, and a build that leaves gigabytes in /tmp should not be able to fill it.
- Updates that roll themselves back: bootguard
How AgenticLinux returns to the previous image when a bootc update does not come up healthy: a boot counter armed before the first boot, preflight checks, health checks and a watchdog.
- Introducing AgenticLinux
A bootc-based Linux desktop with the AI agents, Docker, Docker Sandboxes, QEMU/KVM and GPU runtimes already installed, in ten variants on Fedora 44 and CentOS Stream 10.
- AgenticLinux on the NVIDIA DGX Spark
AgenticLinux now runs on the DGX Spark (NVIDIA GB10, aarch64): the NVIDIA 580 driver, claude, codex, opencode and openclaw on a local Qwen 3.8 27B through llmman, and how we installed it over the stock Ubuntu.
- AgenticLinux on Apple Silicon: the 16k variants
The 16k- variants of AgenticLinux are the Fedora 45 variants with a 16 KiB-page kernel and the Asahi project's platform packages. We switched a Mac mini M1 to one, and this is how it is built, how to install it and what we did not test.

AgenticLinux is open source under the Apache-2.0 license. The packages, build scripts, bootguard and the CI that builds and tests every variant are in one repository.
